Semliki National Park, is located in Bundibugyo District in western Uganda, it is one of the country's most unique protected areas, famous for its Hot springs (Sempaya Hotsprings), lowland tropical rainforest, and rich biodiversity. Established in 1993, it covers about 219 km² and is managed by the Uganda Wildlife Authority. It is very near to Fort Portal town and about 50km away.
It lies along the Uganda–Democratic Republic of Congo frontier, within the western arm of the East African Rift Valley. Semliki National Park is East Africa's only lowland tropical rainforest, extending from the Ituri Forest of the Congo Basin into Uganda, featuring Semliki River, Sempaya hot springs, savanna grasslands, and wetlands.
The Park is proud of Over 53 species of mammals, including elephants, buffaloes, leopards, pygmy hippos, and several primates (chimpanzees, baboons, and colobus monkeys). It rich in birdlife of over 441 species, making it one of Uganda's richest birding destinations and it is blessed with diversity of butterflies with many species typical of Central African forests.
