Lake Mburo National Park is Uganda's smallest savannah park, covering about 370 km², and is located in western Uganda near Mbarara. It is famous for its rolling hills, rich biodiversity, and the beautiful Lake Mburo at its heart. With a drive from Kampala, it about 250km (about 4 hours' drive via Masaka)and it found in Mbarara, Kiruhura, and Isingiro districts.
It is the closest park to Kampala, making it one of the most accessible safari destinations in Uganda. Lake Mburo's terrain is covered by Rolling hills, open savanna, acacia woodlands, swamps, and forests, and above all, this is the only Ugandan national park with an entire lake (Lake Mburo) within its boundaries.
A variety of animals like the Uganda kobs, Impalas, zebras, impalas, elands, topis, buffaloes, hippos, and giraffes etc are among wildlife making the park unique on addition to being rich in birdlife: as over 350 bird species, including the rare African finfoot and papyrus gonolek.
