Kidepo Valley National Park
Kidepo Valley National Park
Kidepo Valley National Park is one of Uganda's most remote and spectacular safari destinations, often described as Africa's "hidden gem." found in north-eastern Uganda, bordering South Sudan and Kenya. It covers about 1,442 km² of rugged savannah, mountains, and valleys. The Park was established as a national park in 1962 and it is characterized by open savannah plains, dramatic mountain ranges, and seasonal rivers.
The park's Valley is lush and green, supporting much of the park's wildlife.
The Kidepo Valley is more arid, dotted with borassus palm trees and offering striking scenery and it hosts over 77 mammal species, including lions, leopards, cheetahs, elephants, giraffes, zebras, and buffaloes. It is well known for species not found elsewhere in Uganda, such as cheetahs, ostriches, and caracals and Birdlife is rich, with over 470 species, making it a paradise for bird watchers.
